He slips the balls back into his pouch and dips his head respectfully. “You honour me just by watching, Mistress,” he says warmly, the lilt of sincerity in his voice cutting through his usual teasing tone. “May you find a meal at the harbour and a fair day upon your return.” His bare toes curl briefly against the warm tiles as he offers her a quick, sunny smile, curls tumbling across his brow. “Be well, Mistress and if you pass here again, I’ll make the balls dance just for you.”

In such circumstances, that indeed marks a notable turn of events for her. I wonder if the man in question should bee asked why he went as far as he did?"

None should ever state a man couldn't multi-task. "Did you see that, Lady Kati. The slave managed to catch that coin without breaking his rhythm. Quite impressive." He leaned forward, "We should watch him more closely, someone with that dexterity could easily have been trained as a pickpocket or be a distraction while a thief walks through the crowd relieving us of weight from our coin purposes." Whether or not the slave heard him wasn't important. "Where do you hail from, entertainer?" While he waited for that answer, he continued to speak to the scribe, "I have the woman's testimony, the slave's testimony, and now I need that final piece of the puzzle. Will you write a summons to appear and ask around about where it can be delivered to reach one Sextus

I was born there, in the streets near the central market, you should smell the bread stalls there, all steam and spice...makes your stomach growl even when you’ve just eaten...and I learned juggling from another slave who could even balance a bowl on his head while walking backwards...it took me ages to do that, but then a few years back I ended up in Telnus...lovely harbour, though the gulls there steal more than people do and my Master then was fond of the taverns and played a lot of kaissa and lost me in a gamble though I don’t think he meant to and then I was sent here for another Master, Jaq Dumont, I don’t really know much about him yet but he’s been kind enough to let me keep juggling in the streets so that’s nice, and I do like

I'd hate to come back to a desk filled with paperwork." Standing, he waited for her response, nodded once again to the slave, and prepared to disappear to his office. The thought drifts away as quickly as it came, replaced by the steady rhythm of his hands. When it’s clear they’re preparing to leave, he catches the balls neatly, dips his head in a quick, obedient bow, and steps away with an easy bounce in his stride, already letting his gaze wander the square in search of whatever might catch his attention next.
